Printing & Scanning

Important Information:
At the beginning of each semester, the University provides you with 12.5 € on your printing balance.
Printing Budget + Credit Top-up:
In order to refill your card, you can make an online payment with a credit card (Visa/MasterCard). If you wish to refill your card by paying with a V-PAY or Maestro card, please visit SEVE. These 2 cards are not accepted for online payments.
To charge the student card
- Go to Guichet Etudiant and choose the student card section where you will be able to see your printing budget.
- You can charge your printing balance with an amount of 5, 10, 20 or 50 Euros.
- Pay with your credit card.
- You can log-in easily by just linking your student card at the touching device next to the printing screen. In case your ID card is not recognized then you can once again do it manually.
Changing Paper Slots:
On the printing screen > Select Status Monitor/Cancel > Select Consumables/Others > Choose another tray from the list > Close.
Computer room Locations (TIC):
The University of Luxembourg places computer equipment at the disposal of all its students.

Printing Instructions:
To Print from any computer on campus, go to any printer on campus and use your StudentID and Password to log in and then print your documents securely.
Mobile Printing (via Uni e-mail):
Go to your university email in OWA.
- On your student email go to the "New" Section, to compose a new email.
- Attach a pdf file and send it to mobile.printing@uni.lu (the file has to be exclusively PDF).
- Go to the nearest printing machine and login to your printing account.
- You can log-in either by touching your student card at the linking machine or manually by adding your credentials (Note: If your student card is not recognized when you put in the printing machine, you will need to have the student card replaced at the SEVE).
- Select the "Secure Print" option and you will see your documents.
- Click print+delete.
Printing from a USB memory/Drive:
- Insert the USB drive into a USB port on the printer
- Log in and tap on Access stored files
- Choose Memory Media
- Select your file to print
- Click on the green button and remove memory media>>before removing the USB drive
Scanning:
1. Scanning using the devices the Uni Campus:
- Log in to the printer with your student card
- Select "Scan and Send"
2. Scanning using your smartphone / tablet:
Android Devices
Step 1. On your Android device go to the Google Play Market. In the search box type Adobe Scan.
Step 2. Download this application, which is a free document scanning app from Adobe, with integrated OCR technology to instantly recognize printed text and handwriting:
The app lets you search, select, and copy text, edit PDF and photo scans. You can also open a PDF scan in Acrobat Reader to highlight key sections and add comments to your documents.
Step 3. Open the application, select the document mode and take a picture:
Step 4. It will automotically arrange the corners, and then you press continue:
Step 5. You can see your shot in the bottom, on the right corner:
Step 6. You can take another shot and it will be added as a second page:
Step 7. When pressing above mentioned the button, you will be directed to the following page. Down on the page you can see all the possible functions to edit your shots:
Step 8. After finishing the editing, save the file in PDF format (the document is saved in the application):
If you want to save the document on your device, press the 'copy to device' button. For smartphones it is usually being saved in the internal storage, under the 'Documents' folder => Adobe Scan:
Step 9. Ones saved, you can modify or rename the file:
Step 10. Rename the file accordingly:
Step 11. You can leave comments on your ready-on file, which for you will be lead to the Adobe Acrobat Reader application:
Note that the options marked with stars are available only for paid versions of Adobe Scan application.
Step 12. The two signs on the bottom of the page allow you to take new shots or upload photos from your gallery in order to create new PDF documents:
Step 13. Afterwards you can share and send the file to multiple destinations.
iOS Devices
Step 1: Open the stock Notes app on your iPhone
Step 2: Open a new note by pressing on the icon in the bottom right:
Step 3: For the ones who have updated to the newest iOS software, tap the camera icon:

Important! For the ones who have an earlier iOS software version, you have to tap the circled plus icon
Step 4: Tap on “Scan documents”
Step 5: Now hover the camera over the sheet you want to scan. The scanning will commence when a yellow surface appears on the sheet. (Hint: It works best when the sheet is on top of a different coloured surface/table):
Step 6: Once the scan is completed, tap on “Save” in the bottom right
Step 7: After saving, the app will save the file under a customised name. To change the file’s name, tap on the name at the top of the screen.
Step 8: Once you settled on a name, press “Save”. In our example, we call it ‘Exam Assignement’
Step 9: Once you saved a new name, tap “OK” in the upper left corner
Step 10: Tap on the icon in the upper right corner to open the various forms of exporting the file
Step 11: We have a wide array of exporting methods this file. We will use Mail in our example.
Step 12: Type an email of your choice. (Hint: during exams, I would suggest to type an email address that you can access from your computer so that you can then upload the file onto Moodle)
